CalDiscorvery answers questions about local events using the public listings on caldiscovery.com. It keeps as little as it can.
What the bot receives
When you use a command or button, Discord sends the bot what it needs to answer: the command and the options you typed, your Discord user ID and username, and the IDs of the server and channel. When you use Where is this? or What's on there? on a message, Discord also sends the text of that one message.
What the bot keeps
- Server settings. If someone runs
/setup, the bot stores the server ID with the chosen home city and event type, so/eventsworks without a place. It stays until someone runs/setupagain or asks us to remove it. - Weekly digests. If someone runs
/digest add, the bot stores the server and channel IDs, the city, timeframe, event type, day and hour, and the user ID of whoever set it up. It stays until someone runs/digest removeor asks us to remove it. - Calendar suggestions.
/missingsends the link, city and note you entered, with your Discord username, user ID and server ID, to CalDiscovery's inbox (hello@caldiscovery.com), where it becomes a support ticket. That is how we follow up on a suggestion. It also keeps a count of your suggestions for the day, tied to your user ID, so nobody can flood the inbox; that count deletes itself after two days.
Adding a listing to a server's Events creates a normal Discord event in that server; the bot keeps no copy.
Nothing else is stored. Message text is read only to answer that one request and is not saved. The bot does not read messages in your server unless you point it at one.
Searches, picks and polls (/near, Pick for me, Poll) are answered on the spot and not kept. For fixing problems, the bot's host keeps short-lived technical logs (which command or button was used and how long it took, not message text) for a few days.
What we don't do
No ads, no tracking, no profiles, and we never sell or share your data. The bot does not ask Discord for message content, member lists or presence.
Links and other services
The bot runs on Cloudflare Workers, and Cloudflare handles its traffic under its own privacy policy. Links the bot posts to caldiscovery.com end in ?src=discord, so we can count visits that came from Discord; visiting the site is covered by the site itself. Event links go to the organizers' own websites, and "Google" calendar links go to Google.
Removing your data
Email hello@caldiscovery.com with your Discord username or server ID and we will delete what we hold: server settings, digests, and any suggestions you sent.
Changes
If this changes, this page and its date change with it.
